United Friends School
United Friends School is an award-winning Quaker preschool, elementary and middle school in Quakertown, Pennsylvania. Its mission is to make each day an inspiring learning experience guided by the Quaker testimonies of simplicity, peace, integrity, community, equality and stewardship. In a loving, open-minded, family-centered environment, children of diverse populations develop 21st century skills within a progressive science, technology, engineering, arts and math program. In mixed-grade classrooms, students deeply explore real world issues and make a positive difference in the community. Students’ achievements are assessed in authentic ways, without standardized tests or grades. While at UFS, each child’s potential is maximized and alumni are well prepared to achieve their goals and attend the finest institutions. Established in 1983, United Friends School serves approximately 120 students in the Upper Bucks and Lehigh Valley regions in Pennsylvania.
When United Friends School was ready to launch the United Friends School STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math) Program, Joan B. Marcus Communications developed a grant program to raise funds. We worked with the STEAM Committee, made up of staff and parents, to craft a detailed case statement summarizing the STEAM Program, researched potential funding sources, developed grant proposals, prepared necessary grant reports and developed other solicitation and stewardship materials.
Joan's careful attention to detail and deadlines, follow up, professionalism and superior grant writing skills helped my client, United Friends School, develop a strong grant program. The case statement Joan created was powerful and provided United Friends School with the verbiage and data they needed to solicit funds for and ultimately launch one of their most important initiatives.
