This past spring, I earned the Nonprofit Management Certificate through a partnership program between the Center for Business & Industry of Northampton Community College and the Nonprofit Center at LaSalle University. Close to 60 nonprofit managers, board members, volunteers and consultants participated and nine of us earned the certificate by attending all of the classes on topics ranging from human resources and finance to strategic planning and governance.

This program was invaluable to me as a consultant as I learned more about the issues facing nonprofit management on a daily basis. As vice president of Turning Point of Lehigh Valley, I came away with a deeper understanding of my role as a board member and the importance of volunteers to the health and growth of nonprofit organizations.

I highly recommend the Nonprofit Management Certificate Program to anyone who plays a role in the nonprofit field. It is well worth the time commitment. Classes start again in September.
